The badge fight is real on African highways. The useful question is which workshop you already have — not which brochure looks newer.
HOWO
Filters, glass, and injectors are everywhere. HW19710 gearboxes are known. Fine for mixed haulage and first-time importers. A used HOWO 6×4 tractor typically quotes in the 9,500–16,000 FOB band depending on hours and cab.
SHACMAN
Weichai plus FAST is a different parts list. Better when the route is heavy and the local dealer already stocks F3000 or X3000 pieces. Expect a higher FOB than a basic HOWO 371 head.
What we quote as a set
If you are buying a tractor, order the trailer from the same desk. Fifth-wheel height and kingpin have to match. A used HOWO head plus a new 40ft chassis is a common first import.
